Yamaha Wins Defense Verdict In Personal Watercraft Wrongful Death Trial03/09/2026
On May 27, 2022, a jury in Los Angeles returned a defense verdict for Yamaha in a wrongful death trial over the 2015 death of a man who was riding a Yamaha WaveRunner on the Colorado River. The jury instead assigned fault to the WaveRunner operator who struck the man and the rental company that provided the watercrafts, assessing $4.75 million in total damages against those defendants.

4th Circuit Panel Affirms Summary Judgment In Watercraft Injury Suit03/09/2026
A Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on Feb. 20 affirmed a trial court’s decision grant summary judgment to the makers of a personal watercraft (PWC) because a woman who was injured after falling off of one did not present enough evidence on how the product was defective (Deborah Meek Hickerson v. Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A., et al., No. 17-1075, 4th Cir., 2018 U.S. App. LEXIS 3951).

Suzuki Motor Corporation is pleased to announce that a Fullerton jury has returned a defense verdict in a products liability lawsuit stemming from the 2014 motorcycle accident involving a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000. On Oct. 11, the jury deliberated for five hours before returning a 12-0 verdict in favor of Suzuki Motor Corporation. On Nov. 2, the court entered judgment in favor of Suzuki.
